 Aytoun Hall - Auchterader

The client project team required a professionally designed integration of a fully fledged conference/performance environment with professional audio and audio visual solutions. It would service all manner of presenations from lectures, drama to live bands. It was to be of the highest qualities for this former G8 Summit town. The solutions inlcuded a d&b audiotechnik sound system, large screen projection, stage lighting design and AMX central control system for non technical users.

"Having experienced many AV contractors over many years it was imperative we had people on the project team who knew what they were doing. The black art of Pro audiuo and audio visual disciplines was made simple for us, on budget and with great confidence. The end users are excited about its use". Project Manager

Silverstone Wing - F1 Auditorium

Silverstone Wing

In 2011 d3 were requested to provide a state of the art solution for the new F1 auditorium in the Silverstone `Wing`, in time for the innaugral F1 Grand Prix. As part of this £23 million build a comprehensive AV strategy was required under considerable time pressures with a fixed handover date that could not slip. Included in the scheme was the auditorium which included a Digital Projection 3 Chip DLP, 1080P projector (8000 Ansi Lumens), RCF full frequency range audio solution, AMX colour touch panel control system (5" & 17") with technical and non-technical user interface and AMX Digital Signage. Campsie Memorial Hall

Campsie Memorial Hall

As a referral through the trade the Campsie project team were bidding for Lottery funding to re-establish this community based project. They required proper consultancy to make a professional bid application which d3 walked through with them. A flexible lighting, Pro-Audio, projection and control solution were installed late 2011 as part of a succesful quality bid to establish the hall as a `fit for use` venue. It proceeds to provide quality services to the local community. d3 were delighted to work with the team and wish them every success for the future.

Case Study

Douglas Chappelle, Project Co-ordinator, Campsie Memorial Hall

`When Campsie Memorial Hall was taken over by the community in December 2010 the management committee were keen to make an impact as soon as possible. The hall can comfortably seat 200 people and has a good sized stage. Its full potential was not being realised due to outdated sound and light equipment.

In order to rejuvenate the hall and increase its appeal an entry was made to the Jubilee People`s Millions for funding to install a PA system, stage lighting and a projection system. When we had found that we had progressed to the second stage of the process we had to move quickly to find a partner to interpret our dreams. d3 were identified as a candidate and quickly established themselves as preferred supplier to deliver the solution if the bid won. After an initial site visit it was obvious that the team at d3 understood our vision clearly and accurately interpreted our ideas. They also managed to deliver the parts of the solution that we didnt know we needed and were able to deliver on our requirement that the system could work on two levels - switch on, plug in and go, as well as the more technical live venue mode.

On June 29 2011 our project went to the public vote and we won. We quickly confirmed all the details and work began at the start of September. Two weeks later we had a state of the art sound system, wonderful stage lighting and a HD projection system for our community cinema. We have been delighted with the standard of workmanship and professionalism of the team at d3. They took our ambitions and turned them into reality. We now have a hall that has, in a few short months, put on live music, pantomimes, youth theatre productions and regular community cinema viewings. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of the team at d3.

Stornoway Town Hall

Renovation of the island`s Town Hall in 2010 required a solution that not only enabled a credible venue for touring musicians but also as an event and exhibition space. Engaged by the architect, and driven on a sincerely tight budget from the client, d3 provided a full frequency RCF speaker system which was installed on time and on budget whilst managing the delays onsite. The mobile sound desk utilised a multi-pin connector system for `twist & fix` assembly making it speedy and easy for non-technical users to set up. The installation included full training and familiarisation.

Gorbals Parish ChurchGorbals Parish Church - New Sanctuary

As one of the many Church of Scotland new build and renovation projects it is engaged on as a preferred contractor, the Gorbals Parish Church was completed to facilitate the church`s mission into the community. The project was initially discussed in 2007 but due to set backs in the property market of the day was delayed. Completion finally happened in late 2011 and the church now settles down to focus on the community. St Pauls & St GeorgesSt Pauls & St Georges Edinburgh

In 2007 St P`s & G`s Church were ready to select a suitable company for what was the UK`s largest church AV project of its day. (£1/4 Million). It included the largest d&b audiatechnik E8 speaker installation at the time along with AMX colour touch control panels, Sony cameras, Grass Valley HD vision mixer, large screen projection,  stage lighting including Avolites Dimmers & Console along with a ton and a half of cabling. d3 were engaged and continue to support the church as it hosts major conferences and events in the capital. Being firmly in the centre of the city, not far from Waverley station, this award winning renovation appeals not only as a church meeting place but as a corporate conference centre or music venue with a distinct and unique environment. Aswell as the main hall there are a number of other rooms with AV facilities and a glazed reception area.

St Peters & St PaulsSt Peters & St Pauls - Refurbished Sanctuary

St Paul`s & St Peter`s Catholic Church in Dundee underwent a significant renovation in 2009 and required `modern` communication equipment which was to be used by non-technical users. Introduced by the architect, d3 consulted with the client to identify the requirements and aspirations for this significant spend project. Quality and contemporary solutions were very important along with the necessary aesthetic appeal. This alone was not enough as the control element had to be used by senior and non-technical users, it had to be simple and intuitive. d3 installed a d&b audiotechnik sound system with a rear projection screen solution and AMX control panel.

Banchory Christian Fellowship

Project Highlight & Case Study

BCF are a contemporary church who are very visible and active in their community. The new church building was part of an ongoing strategy to have a facility that would service the needs of future generations whilst satisfying the current. The design of the new building allowed for a variety of useful spaces that could not only meet the churches needs but also be more versatile for community use. The solutions designed for the main hall allowed for speech through to band audio enhancement with large screen projection for presentations of computers, video and cameras. Distributed audio was placed to the other areas.

`The brief for the Banchory Christian Fellowship Church new building was to provide a bespoke, multi-function space with audio and visual systems suitably flexible to accomodate the various changing needs of the church life. The charity funded project had to deliver value for money while maintaining an appropriatte level of quality and functionality. We therefore decided to seperate the audio visual element of the build from the main contract and employ the services of a consultant and professional installation team. We met with a number of companies to identify one specialist who would fulfill our brief, integrate and co-ordinate with our main contractor, and provide systems that could be used by people with varying levels of skill and expertise. d3 stood out from the other companies; displaying a high level of competence, creativity and providing a competitive quotation for the design and installation.

Once introduced d3 were quick to mobilise and identify critical ground work items and key program dates with the main contractor. Great care was taken by the design team with the selection of equipment to ensure longevity of products and manufacturer and also the ongoing availability of technical assistance and spares. The installation team wore company apparel making them easily identifiable amongst the multitude of other construction trades on site and everyone I spoke to was polite and helpful. It was not possible for me to regularly check progress but the level of care and attention to detail I witnessed, when I did manage to attend site was comforting, and close monitoring would have been entirely unnencessary. The installation was finished on time, to specification, and we continue to be very happy with the systems provided. When the final bill arrived it was refreshing to find the amount payable exactly as initially quoted.

We are planning some additional work to be carried out at the church in the future and I have no reservations about going directly to d3 for assistance....job well done.`

Case Study for the King’s Community Church, Aberdeen

Requirements and Situation:
"King’s Community Church is a vibrant growing church located in the heart of Aberdeen. We have been very fortunate to have experienced recent growth, but we have also experienced challenges which require adaptability to new situations. One area that we realized needed improvement to match the larger size of our congregation was in our audio system. Our audio system was efficient, but the system suffered from poor speaker clarity and proper coverage. As typical in many churches, our audio team is comprised of volunteers, who, not being professional audio engineers, are very willing and capable operators. Therefore, we required an approach that would mitigate the clarity and coverage issue, along with a system that is relatively easy to operate and control with the goal to achieve a consistent sound."

Solution: D3 Audio
"After receiving quotes and proposals from several audio companies, it became clear the d3 was the company to provide our need. d3 presented an expert knowledge of the needs of a typical church environment; and they also understood the importance of forming a partnership to ensure long-term success. Instead of selling us a system, d3 explained their approach and methodology in a very detailed and non-condescending manner which allowed us to understand more than technical jargon and cost. We felt that our analysis of d3’s methodology was more comprehensive due to their personable and relational presentation. With that said, d3’s approach was innovative, but it was also realistic. Instead of presenting us with a very costly system beyond our needs, they presented a cost effective system that was appropriate and adequate to our needs and budget."

"d3 recommended a four speaker solution, along with the appropriate amps, and a sub cabinet. Needless to say, the upgraded speaker solution has been received very well by our congregation. The listening experience is much improved. During the installation process, d3’s technical team was very efficient, professional, but most of all they were very gracious and patient when entertaining our questions. We have received comments from our congregations ranging from ‘the sound feels warm, like we’re in a blanket of sound’, to ‘I thought I was going deaf, but now I can hear the sermon.’ We really appreciate the personal care, understanding and professionalism of d3."

Leon Harris
Technology Coordinator, The King’s Community Church, Aberdeen www.kingscommunitychurch.org

The d3 team really enjoyed working with Kings Church on this project and look forward to seeing them again.
